In today’s culture, it’s a fact that many people associate themselves with celebrities. I’ve no intention of arguing the rights of wrongs of this, I just accept it as a fact, and if just one person tries Pilates because of one of my blogs, then I consider this to be a success. This week another celebrity got herself some lovely exposure in the world press by publishing a picture of herself doing Pilates. This time it’s Supermodel Naomi Campbell who revealed the secret behind her famous figure.

The 43 year-old British model posted a picture of herself on WhoSay of her morning workout regime with the caption: ‘Morning darling stretch and Rise”

In a recent interview with Harpers Bazaar, the supermodel recently revealed pilates as an essential part of her morning routine in between green juice drinks and herbal tea. Her pictures show her on her own personal reformer. Whilst this is out of reach of us mortals, there are of course many Pilates exercises you can do at home without the need for expensive equipment.

Margot Robbie is the latest in a string of celebrities to join the Pilates craze of sharing an image of herself flaunting her new gravity defying skills on Instagram.

Following in the footsteps of Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Taylor Swift and fellow Australian actress Phoebe Tomkin, the Wolf of Wall Street star used her newly created social media account to document her workout at the Los Angeles fitness studio.

Legs outstretched in vertical splits, the stunning 23-year-old posted a photo of herself by a Cadillac machine.

Alessandra Ambrosio is a Pilates addict

Alessandra Ambrosio is at it again with her Pilates practise, and she doesn’t need make-up or a private gym session to burn calories.

The 32-year-old Victoria’s Secret model was barefaced whilst displaying her sculpted physique in a class full of students at her Pilates studio in Los Angeles on Saturday morning.

The mother-of-two donned hot pink leggings, a white sports bra and loose-fitted printed pastel tank top.

She returned to the catwalk only three months after giving birth, to wear a 20-carat diamond Fantasy bra in the 2012 show. She described her preparation for the feat as ‘intense.’

‘You work out as an athlete. All your mind, all your everything goes into it,’ she said, before adding, ‘But what better motivation to get into shape than to be wearing a ($2.5) million dollar bra?’

But whether there’s a big runway gig or not, Alessandra appears to always maintain a strict workout routine, frequently seen hitting the gym.

Victoria’s Secret Models Behati Prinsloo and Alessandra Ambrosio have a secret way to shape up for bikinis this summer. But the secret is now out!

This week Victoria’s Secret held their annual swim preview, and Alessandra and Behati gave some thoughts on exercise and preparing for summer.

Their favourite pre-swim workout? Pilates of course. “I usually do Pilates,” Ambrosio said. “There’s this place in L.A. where they have these reformers. You get a good workout and you burn a lot of calories. And I do like the Soul Cycle spinning classes. They’re fun, it’s 45 minutes, and you sweat like crazy.”

Prinsloo added “What helps me if I don’t really feel bikini-ready and it sort of sneaks up on me is some self-tanner lotion. Not orange, but just that summer glow that always makes me feel a little better. And then obviously, some Pilates or yoga or go run on the beach. Cut out sugar and salt too. When I do the show or right before a shoot, I just try to cut out a lot of sweets and salt, which cause a lot of water weight.”

Wise words indeed….

Criss Cross Exercise Chris Hunt Pilates

My latest Snap Video is Criss-Cross, which focuses on the abs and especially on the obliques, all essential if you want to be the best boarder of skier that you can.

Lie on your back with a neutral spine. Bend your knees and bring your shins up so that they are parallel to the floor. Place your hands behind your head. Keep the neck relaxed and your elbows nice and wide. On the out breath curl the chin and shoulders up to the base of the shoulder blades. Keep your arms relaxed, let the abs do the work. Take the right shoulder towards the left knee ensuring a good rotation, then on the in-breath return to the starting position. Repeat on the left.

Oscar winning movie. Whilst I was wowed by the amazing cinematography and special effects, the most remarkable thing about the film for me is Sandra Bullock. She is simply amazing.

The actress and producer is an incredible 49 years old, and is a testament to the fact that the aging process is not necessarily as unavoidable as many people think.

So how does she do it? How does she look so great? In her own words, “I do a lot of Pilates, kick boxing, and weight training in L.A. and when I’m in Austin I run or ride a bike,” She puts in an  hour at the gym 6 times a week and boy does it show.

Whilst other actresses claim with some justification that Hollywood is ageist and roles diminish when they get towards 50, Sandra’s career is booming with Gravity being her most commercially and critically successful film yet.

Once again Pilates is at the heart of a successful career, and Sandra is truly an inspiration.

A quiet Sunday evening in Milwaukee? Not when Miley Cyrus is in town!

The 21-year-old singer pop star says that she didn’t intend to step out in nothing but her underwear to perform the song “23” during a show, but that is exactly what happened when. She said on twitter “Not a new outfit for 23. I didn’t make my quick change and I couldn’t not come out for the song so I just had to run out in my undies.”

She is no stranger to controversy, and is she also no stranger to Pilates. It’s a regular part of her workout routine, including the sidekick series on the Cadillac for legs and butt, then plenty of ab work.

Where you love Miley or hate her, one thing is for certain that she can go on stage in nothing but underwear with confidence!
