If you read my blog regularly (and if you do not then why not?!?! ha ha), you will know that I love the street-art and graffiti around the streets of Barcelona.

This example I saw outside Parc Guell. Apart from being a wonderful picture of running Zebras, I love the idea that the zebras are running away from the motorcycles!

Iconic Barcelona: Casa Batlló

“Casa Batlló is a masterpiece of shape, colour and light. In this work, Gaudí is pre-empting the theory of rationalism, which would come 30 years later, with its modern notion of ventilation.”

Such an amazing building, much photographed but still looking amazing tonight.

In Gaudi’s own words, “There are no straight lines or sharp corners in nature. Therefore buildings must have no straight lines or sharp corners”.

It’s hard to argue with that logic.

Storm Clouds over Barcelona

Not the sky you want to see at 16.30 on a Tuesday, especially for those people who are in Barcelona on holiday.

The lifeguards told everyone to get out of the water (they announced it in Spanish first, then in several other languages before English as understandably us English are the most dispensable), but of course some people ignore the warnings. Do they not watch the news about the lightening strike yesterday on Venice Beach which killed one person and injured many others?

A typical lightning bolt measures 300 million volts which is plenty enough to kill. You can become a target if you are in the sea in the same way you can be in the middle of a field, as the lightening will always take the path of least resistance.  

I’m home now waiting for the fireworks, the symphony and the deluge to begin.

Who is this woman? Is she someone famous? Maybe the artist’s lover or even their mother? Or is it a self-portrait? Whoever it is, the artist has managed to portray light and happiness in her eyes.

Barcelona is a diverse and multi-cultural city, and one of the many things I love to see is the street-art all around the City. I will be sharing  more with you in the coming weeks.

Chris Hunt Blog is moving!

So, after having so much fun with my blog over the past few months, the limitations of having it on the free WordPress hosting have become just too unbearable. So today my blog will be moved to the new domain address of www.chrishuntblog.com.

This move should be seamless, and the new domain hosting should be up and running by this evening, but if there are any problems then please let me know because I do not want to lose any of my valued subscribers or readers.

Barcelona Bougainvillea

When I was younger, my sister lived on the island of Rhodes for 10 years, so every year I went to visit her. One of my abiding memories was of the amazing bougainvillea plants there. So, I promised myself that one day, when I lived somewhere warm enough, I would get my self a bougainvillea. That day has arrived. It’s the small things in life  that sometimes mean the most, the attention to detail that completes the picture.
