Madonna’s Crotch and Pilates! It must be Friday

Madonna: Chris Hunt Pilates

Celebrity posts always get a huge reaction in my blogs, usually negative in comments but very positive in the number of hits! So clearly some people feel strongly that I am wasting their time with such posts, but numbers never lie… 🙂

So this is my compromise. Friday is now my day for celebrity Pilates posts. #pilatescelebfriday As I have explained before, I am not obsessed with celebrity. I have never bought Hello Magazine. What I am obsessed with is Pilates. And whilst not every one agrees with me, it’s my opinion that if someone starts Pilates because their favourite celebrity does Pilates, then why not? If a celebrity tries to grab a few headlines by attributing his or her shape/success/abs to Pilates and a few million people read that article, what harm can that possibly do to Pilates? I think no harm at all because it’s our job as teachers to use that enthusiasm people have and turn it into reality.

I’ve had all the comments about glamorising Pilates, about how privileged celebrities are, about creating false hope, about living on a different planet from “real life”. Whilst I respect the opinion of everyone, it is my humble opinion that these people are missing the point of my posts and they are taking everything way to seriously. All I am doing is raising the awareness of Pilates. Plain and simple. And if you do not understand that, then I am sorry for wasting your time and please do not read my blog on a Friday! 🙂

Today I talk again about the Queen of Pilates, Madonna. It’s her56th birthday next week and still there is an obsession with her in the world’s media. This week she was pictured on a yacht with her family enjoying a summer holiday. Of course she is still the Queen of manipulating the media as well, as this week she posted on her Instagram account a picture of her crotch. To see the picture  and what all the fuss is about, click here.

She will be releasing her 13th studio album soon, which as one of her lifelong fans (I’ve seen her perform love a few times, the high-light was live at Wembley Stadium) I am looking forward to see and hear how she has reinvented herself again.

But of course, the thing I love most about Madonna is her Pilates practise. She has been a loyal Pilates fan for so many years now and her condition show’s that her commitment has been well worth it!

Madonna is a very worthy Friday Pilates Celebrity! Enjoy your day and your weekend. I’ll be back on Monday with a more serious article about Pilates, healthy and wellness. Until then….

The Lady is just Gaga for Pilates

Lady Gaga knows a thing or two about controversy, but she also knows a thing or two about the best way to rehabilitate after an injury.

The singer famous for songs such as Poker Face, cancelled her world tour last year to undergo hip surgery, and was confined to a wheelchair. She was seen soon after successful surgery in Chicago attending Pilates classes.

She hired out the whole studio, and whilst some accused her of taking her celebrity status too far, experienced Pilates teachers will agree that when rehabilitating from a specific injury, private sessions are by far the best (if not the only) way to ensure specific treatment.

It is no surprise to know that Pilates helps her keep her wonderful figure, and she is never shy to show the world the results of her training.

Her World Tour will reach my city of Barcelona this year, so I can see first hand what kind of shape she is in.

Lady Gaga is looking great and getting better with the help of a little pilates.

Gaga has been spending a lot of time in Chicago as of late, with her boyfriend Taylor Kinney (“Chicago Fire”). According to a local pilates instructor, Gaga rented out a local studio for private sessions earlier this month and didn’t seem to be in pain during their first session.

“It was myself and another trainer in the studio with [Gaga] and her personal assistant. She seems to be in good health. She was walking around totally fine,” Corinne Clifton shared with the Chicago Tribune. “She didn’t seem to be in pain, but we were also going really slow.  I felt like she could have done more, maybe, but we also didn’t want to push her the first time.”

As widely reported, the “Born This Way” and “Judas” singer has been recuperating from surgery following a tear in her right hip.

According to the instructor, Gaga came prepared to the studio with very little make up, black stretch pants and a black t-shirt.

“She’s very pretty and in great shape,” said instructor Clifton.

Madonna Pilates Queen!

Madonna www.chrishuntwellness.com

Madonna Pilates Queen

Madonna must be the celebrity Pilates Queen. The 55 year-old pop superstar and actress was see last week in West Hollywood on her way to her Pilates class. She was one of the first celebs to include Pilates in her exercise regime, and she has done more than most to raise the profile of Pilates around the world. But of course Pilates alone is not enough for any exercise regime, so Madonna spends six mornings a week completing a mix of workouts and cardiovascular exercises.

She recently told Elle magazine “I mix it up – Pilates, gyrotonics, yoga. I do it six days a week, with Sundays off. Actually, Sunday is a day of horse-riding. There’s no such thing as a day off.” Despite her regime, she still has “fat days” when she worries about her weight. She told Elle “I run longer on the treadmill and don’t eat as much the next day, so then it evens out, but I’m sure it’s all in my head.” So she is human after all, and much like the rest of us! I often hear people say that celebrities are lucky because they have the money and time to exercise more than “normal” people. But I disagree. You do not need money to exercise, and the celebrities I have worked with usually have far less time than the rest of us. What celebrities like Madonna have is dedication and commitment. And those are qualities available to all of us.
