Prince George will keep Pilates in the family

www.chrishuntwellness.com

The latest picture of Prince George and you can really see how much love there is between him and the family dog Lupo. I think he will make a good King. The future of the Royal Family looks bright! 🙂

And I am sure that his mum will introduce him to Pilates as soon as he is old enough as Kate is such a big fan, as is her sister Pippa. Kate attended 3 Pilates classes a week whilst she was pregnant with George in Fulham, London, and she is also reported to like using dumbells and a Swiss ball for an hour every morning as part of her regular gym workout.

Margot Robbie is the latest in a string of celebrities to join the Pilates craze of sharing an image of herself flaunting her new gravity defying skills on Instagram.

Following in the footsteps of Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Taylor Swift and fellow Australian actress Phoebe Tomkin, the Wolf of Wall Street star used her newly created social media account to document her workout at the Los Angeles fitness studio.

Legs outstretched in vertical splits, the stunning 23-year-old posted a photo of herself by a Cadillac machine.

Gwyneth Paltrow: Conscious Uncoupling/Conscious Pilates

Gwyneth2

www.chrishuntwellness.com

It was a sad day on Tuesday to hear that Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin were separating. For 10 years they have been one of the most interesting celebrity couples.

Gwyneth is well known to the Pilates community. After the birth of both of her children Apple, 9, and Moses, 7, it was well publicised that she used Pilates exercises in her routine to recover her strength and flexibility.  It was reported at the time that she worked out for two hours every day, even if it meant having her children crawling around with her.

Gwyneth was reported to have said that as well as the physical side of Pilates, she also really understood that it was a mind and body experience, and that it made her much more conscious of her body and movements. This is a vital aspect of the system and one that must never be over-looked or diminished.

I believe this is so important that  I have enhanced this aspect of Pilates in my system, Pilates EVO by using NLP, Mindfulness Meditation, Mantra chanting and meridians.

The Lady is just Gaga for Pilates

gaga

Lady Gaga knows a thing or two about controversy, but she also knows a thing or two about the best way to rehabilitate after an injury.

The singer famous for songs such as Poker Face, cancelled her world tour last year to undergo hip surgery, and was confined to a wheelchair. She was seen soon after successful surgery in Chicago attending Pilates classes.

She hired out the whole studio, and whilst some accused her of taking her celebrity status too far, experienced Pilates teachers will agree that when rehabilitating from a specific injury, private sessions are by far the best (if not the only) way to ensure specific treatment.

It is no surprise to know that Pilates helps her keep her wonderful figure, and she is never shy to show the world the results of her training.

Her World Tour will reach my city of Barcelona this year, so I can see first hand what kind of shape she is in.

Lady Gaga is looking great and getting better with the help of a little pilates.

Gaga has been spending a lot of time in Chicago as of late, with her boyfriend Taylor Kinney (“Chicago Fire”). According to a local pilates instructor, Gaga rented out a local studio for private sessions earlier this month and didn’t seem to be in pain during their first session.

“It was myself and another trainer in the studio with [Gaga] and her personal assistant. She seems to be in good health. She was walking around totally fine,” Corinne Clifton shared with the Chicago Tribune. “She didn’t seem to be in pain, but we were also going really slow.  I felt like she could have done more, maybe, but we also didn’t want to push her the first time.”

As widely reported, the “Born This Way” and “Judas” singer has been recuperating from surgery following a tear in her right hip.

According to the instructor, Gaga came prepared to the studio with very little make up, black stretch pants and a black t-shirt.

“She’s very pretty and in great shape,” said instructor Clifton.

Supplements: a waste of money?

Supplements

www.chrishuntwellness.com

The debate over vitamin supplements has been raging for many years, but new evidence suggests that people might be wasting their money.

As a nation, one third of adults in the UK take a nutritional supplement and annually spend a staggering £650 million on supplements, including £138.6m on multivitamins, and £35.9m on vitamin C alone, citing reasons ranging from improving joints (36%), improving memory (5%) and protecting the heart (19%) as their justification for such an expense.

But academics from the John Hopkins University School of Medicine and the University of Warwick have concluded that evidence suggests the “supplementing the diet of well-nourished adults….has no clear benefit and might even be harmful”. Three recent research papers, one of which analysed previous trials involving 450,000 people, found no beneficial effect on mortality from taking vitamins, no benefit slowing cognitive decline, and no impact on heart problems. The scientists concluded that not only was using supplements not justified, some such as Beta-carotene and Vitamin E could be harmful.

Their argument is that most of our diets are adequate and we therefore gain all we need from the food we eat, in fact as they argue many people over-eat. The Health Food Manufacturers’ Association which represents the supplement manufacturers argues that there are pockets of low vitamin intake both in the UK and other European countries, and that their products provide “important nutritional insurance.”

This comes at a time when the UK Government are considering making the inclusion of folic acid in bread compulsory, so the disagreement as to the value of supplementing our diets rages on.

There is an alternative. Simon Cowell and Gary Lineker have been rumoured to have tried an intravenous “cocktail of vitamin infusions” offered by private clinics. At £225 a pop, it’s not a financial viable option for most of us, and no doubt some scientists would be doubtful as to its benefits.

Whilst the arguments will continue to rage over the physical and psychosomatic benefits of pill popping, predictably the key here in eating a well balanced, well nourished diet that includes proper hydration.

Alessandra Ambrosio is a Pilates addict

Alessandra 1

www.chrishuntwellness.com

Alessandra Ambrosio is at it again with her Pilates practise, and she doesn’t need make-up or a private gym session to burn calories.

The 32-year-old Victoria’s Secret model was barefaced whilst displaying her sculpted physique in a class full of students at her Pilates studio in Los Angeles on Saturday morning.

Alessandra 2

The mother-of-two donned hot pink leggings, a white sports bra and loose-fitted printed pastel tank top.

She returned to the catwalk only three months after giving birth, to wear a 20-carat diamond Fantasy bra in the 2012 show. She described her preparation for the feat as ‘intense.’

Alessandra 3

‘You work out as an athlete. All your mind, all your everything goes into it,’ she said, before adding, ‘But what better motivation to get into shape than to be wearing a ($2.5) million dollar bra?’

But whether there’s a big runway gig or not, Alessandra appears to always maintain a strict workout routine, frequently seen hitting the gym.
